Us and Them

After a really long time I listened to the  one of my favourite rock band’s Pink Floyd. Infact ,I was introduced to their music  when I was in college, and at that time I felt I had never heard such a pschadelic, experimental rock sound. Most of their song’s like”Shine on you crazy Diamond”,”the great gig in the sky”,simply haunted me with not just their melody but also their lyrics.

Richard Wright, one of the founding members of Pink Floyd passed away recently. His composition’s especially “Us and Them”, were amazing. The title of this song  I feel has various meanings. At that point of time when I heard the song,it felt like this song fit in various situations. As if it was telling the world to take notice of the poverty around ,the countries which were draught stricken or had a famine or little homeless kids. It was like the song spoke the truth and was telling us to contribute to the situation and  help those who were suffering. T he lyrics of most of the Pink Floyd album’s were  realistic and often loaded with messages. David Gilmour,Nick Mason and Roger Water’s each one of them added their own to the contribution to one of the most amazing progressive, psychadelic rock bands .

Another legendary musician whose  death anniversary was on 18th September is Jimmy Hendrix. His guitar playing styles was a revealation. Born as an Amrican song writer and singer,it was Hendrix’s techniqie of guitar feedback with overdriven amplifiers  was amazing and his performances at the Wood stock festival made him a star.

After a musician’s gone it’s his music that stays with us forever we can only remember these legendary musicians all the time by hearing   their albums and be inspired.
Songs like “Imagine”,by John Lennon  are so beautifully written that t hey almost seem to be like a World Anthem.lyric’s like,

Imagine there’s no countries
It is’nt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die,
And no religion too
Imagine all the people,
Living a life of peace.

Those were the legends, those were the musicians who brought a revolution with their distinctive style of music. There;s such a distinct difference  in our present world and their’s. “Us and them”.
